Be Strong

Is this little guy funny or what? I love the mustache. You've seen this layout before. I tend to like it. But I do mix it up a bit. For example, I centered the focal point on this one and I added the twine around the end. So don't always take the same layout and you fall back to and make it exactly the same. Challenge yourself to do something a little different on it. For the base on this card, I used Daffodil Delight and ran it through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Impression folder. I then used some Whisper White stock and covered it with some Big Top DSP with a strip of Real Red on the end. I wrapped around some twine and added a little tab of Real Red Satin Ribbon. Next I added a little tag of Daffodil Delight that I made using the greeting from this set and the Jewelry Tag Punch. I added this to the card base using dimensionals. For my focal point I stamped the image from Under the Big Top using black Stazon Ink on watercolor paper. I then colored it with my aqua pinter and matching ink: Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and a little Blush Blossom. I hope you have a great Friday!

Simple My Friend

Hi Gang. I wanted to share a simple, yet elegant card with you today. I used the My Friend stamp set and stamped the large image in Versa mark on a piece of Old Olive card stock. I rounded the corners on the top edges and mounted it on a piece of Whisper White using dimensionals. You'll notice that I also rounded the corners of the white as well.  I then layered a piece of Wisteria Wonder on a piece of Concord Crush that I punched using the scallop trim border punch. I then layered this over the Old Olive and tied a piece of Basic Black grosgrain ribbon and tied it in a bow. I stamped my greeting in Basic Black in the upper right corner. This helps tie the black together.  And then for a little texture I added some pearls in a few areas of the flowers. I hope you have a great day. It's going to be a scorcher here today.

Smarty Pants

Hi Everyone! I had a great time in FL. The summer is just flying by. We now have less than 2 weeks before school starts back. Yikes! Where does the time go? Before I left I created a series of watercolor cards with the Under the Big Top stamp set. I knew I had to have these right away. And paired with the Big Top Birthday DSP it is irresistible. And for me, the red just puts it over the top. Red is my favorite color. I can't wait to show you all of them. This is the first one. There is a funny little story behind this one. I always show my cards to my hubby to see what he thinks of them. He is an artist himself and has a great eye so I know I can always trust his judgement. I just have to remind myself that he has a very critical eye, otherwise I might want to punch him in the nose. :-) Think brutally honest in a nice way. I ask for it. So, he said this was his least favorite of the series.

"What? I really like this one."  So I inquired as to why he didn't like this one.

"Clowns are scary," was his response.

I said, "so it's not the card, it's the clown?"

"Yes!"

Almost 22 years of marriage and I never knew clowns bothered him. How can that be? Too funny.  Do clowns scare you?

Onto the card. I began with a Real Red base that I ran through the Big Shot using the Herringbone Impression folder (love it). I then layered a piece of DSP on another piece of Whisper White to give it more strength so I could raise it up with dimensionals. I then stamped my image on watercolor paper and colored with aqua painters and ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, and some Blush Blossom. I then added my greeting on a piece of Daffodil Delight that I stamped with Black Stazon. It is adhered with a Real Red Glitter Brad. Aren't they fun? This was then mounted on a piece of Tempting Turquoise with dimensionals and I then mounted it with dimensionals again on the striped DSP. (I doubled the top two to raise it to the proper level.)
