Fun to Stamp

Hello Everyone! This is today's Pun Fun card. It's pretty straight forward. As with of the samples I began with my focal point by stamping my image on watercolor paper using Black Stazon ink. I then colored the image with ink and blender pens. For this one I used Real Red, Basic Gray and Blush Blossom. I then mounted it on a piece of Basic Black card stock. For my Real Red 4 1/4" square card I layered a piece of Real Red DSP across the bottom and then used my scallop border punch to take off the bottom edge. I then added a strip of Basic Black behind that for a little more depth of color. For some texture I added some Basic Black Satin Ribbon. Finally, I added my focal point with dimensionals and then stamped my greeting to the right of it in Black ink. It's pretty simple but I like how it turned out. This card could easily be turned into a Valentine's Day or Anniversary card just by changing the greeting. Enjoy! I'll see you tomorrow.

Welcome to Day 3 of Pun Fun week. What a purrrfectly cold and rainy day here today. But, I shall not complain, I know we need the rain. I don't know what the weather is like where you are but hopefully this little cat will put a smile on your face. I know he does mine. For this card I began with my focal point, which I stamped on watercolor paper using stazon and colored with my blender pens using Peach Parfait ink. I shaded around his body with Blush Blossom but isn't difficult to see in these photos because it is so light, but trust it, it works. It makes any white on the image stand out against the background. Next, I picked my colors. I decided to pair the Peach with Pear Pizzaz. I have a Peach Parfait base with a piece of Peach Parfait DSP on top of that. I then added a strip of Pear Pizzaz. For some added texture I added the paper piercing around the edges of the Peach Parfait DSP only. Then came some Certainly Celery Satin ribbon. I then added my focal point using dimensionals and my greeting with black ink. And to top it off, I added an Old Olive button with some string for a little more texture. I know I have 2 different shades of green here but they all work together lovely. I hope the rest of your day is Purrrfect and I'll see you all tomorrow for day 4.

You're A Blast

Welcome back to Day 2 of the Pun Fun watercolor series I have going on here at the blog. If you want to play along with us, just scroll down to the bottom of this post and click on the inlink button.

For this little rocket card, I began by stamping the rocket on watercolor paper with black Stazon ink and colored it using blender pens with Concord Crush, Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzaz. I then did some shading around the edges with Blush Blossom to give it a little more depth. Once I had that together, I picked out my papers and ribbon. I began with a Pear Pizzaz base and then mounted a piece of Pear Pizzaz DSP on some Pumpkin Pie card stock. I tied a piece of Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon around it and mounted it with dimensionals on the base. I then took a piece of Concord Crush DSP and mounted it on a piece of Concord Crush card stock to give it a little more strength. I stamped my greeting in Black and added it to the top right corner with SNAIL. This piece was then mounted with dimensionals. The only thing left was the focal point, which I punched out with the 1 3/4" circle punch, and mounted it using dimensionals as well. Enjoy! I'll see you tomorrow for Day 3 of Pun Fun.

Hi Friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful Monday. After being in the 80s last week, we had snow flurries this morning. I can hardly believe it. Although it is still cold, the sun is now shinning. I'm certainly not complaining though. I know many of you are still feeling the full force of winter where you are. 

Coloring is therapeutic for me. How about you? Since my mojo went missing & I couldn't decide what to make, I thought I would do some coloring. I pulled out some watercolor paper and my Pun Fun stamp set. It always makes me smile and is so much fun to color. I started with this little guy but ended up coloring all but about two of the other images in the set so this is going to be Pun Fun week here at the blog. I hope you don't mind indulging me on only using one set this week. As a matter of fact, I'd like to throw down a challenge. Do you have Pun Fun or some other cute set that you love but haven't used in awhile? Why don't you pull it out and play along this week. I will upload a new Pun Fun card each morning and you can duplicate anything about it that you like or you can create something totally your own. For this card, I began with my focal point as I said earlier, and decided to color him with Poppy Parade, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight with some Blush Blossom around his body to give him more depth. I used my blender pens to color him. I then decided to punch him out with my 1 3/4" circle punch. For my base, I picked Poppy Parade and then wanted to use some Poppy Parade DSP that I layered on a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock. I then used my 1" circle punch and took off about 3/4 of the punch on the left hand side. I then wrapped a piece of Daffodil Delight grosgrain ribbon around it and tied it with some thread and a Tempting Turquoise button. This whole piece was then mounted on the card base using dimensionals. I then mounted my focal point using dimensionals. For the tag, I stamped my greeting on a small strip of Daffodil Delight card stock and cut each of the ends using my Jewelry Tag punch and mounted it using a glue dot under the ribbon.

Victorian Baby

I wasn't really expecting to go victorian with this baby card at all, but that's what happens sometimes.  It especially seems to happen to me when someone seems to have stolen my mojo as I stated yesterday.  But, I'm going to persist none the less. For the base I used a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock - I'm just going to tell you right now so I don't have to repeat myself for each layer, I distressed & sponged the dickens out of everything on this card with Soft Suede ink (yes that includes the ribbon and lace and button.) There I feel better, now I can move on. Where was I? Oh yes, the next layer is Crumb Cake raised with dimensionals and then a layer of Pretty in Pink that I used the Square Lattice Impression folder on. For my focal point I stamped a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the Solid Stripes background, on page 140, with Pretty in Pink ink that I stamped off once. I then added the elephants from Baby Steps, on page 19, in Chocolate Chip ink right on top of those stripes. I then mounted it on top of a piece of Crumb Cake. This is the point where you should add the lace and Pretty in Pink taffeta using sticky strip to adhere them together and then to adhere them to the card stock. This way you can wrap the edges. That is however, precisely what I did not do. Why? Well, because my mojo is off like I told  you and I didn't think about it until later. Just do as I say, not as I do and everything will work out just fine. Now, once you have that loveliness added, you can add that piece to a piece of Chocolate Chip using dimensionals and then finally you can mount that piece on the card base with - you guessed it, more dimensionals. The final treatment, or so I thought, was the button with some linen thread. Then I realized what was missing, the ears. They just got lost and needed more texture, get it? more texture, on never mind. I used a scrap of the Pretty in Pink I had textured before to create some cute little ears for these guys. I'm exhausted just replaying it in my mind. I'm not going to tell you how long it took me to get it together, but I am pleased with it, mojo or not. Do you know what is one of the best things about this card? Those two stamp sets were FREE! That's right. They are part of the Sale-A-Bration promotion. Have you seen my mojo?

Have you seen my mojo? I seem to have misplaced it. Actually I think it comes from being too busy the last couple of days. I can't focus on being creative when I have so much pressure on me to get so many other things accomplished. Oh well, I'm sure it will turn up again sooner or later. Sorry I missed you all yesterday, as I said, I was a little busy. I managed to pull this card together, after way too much lingering over it. I thought I would use the Things I Love stamp set that you can get for FREE for placing a Sale-A-Bration order. I began with a Basic Black card base that I stamped the bottom left side with the little heart from the set. Unfortunately, the lighting doesn't show it here. Oh well. I then added a piece of Fine Print DSP at the top. I then stamped a piece of Real Red stock using VersaMark and the various images from this stamp set & layered it on the right. I then stamped my greeting on Very Vanilla in Basic Black and then the smaller greeting in Real Red on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla. I punched out the smaller greeting with my Decorative Label punch and tucked it under the bottom right edge. I then added some Real Red satin ribbon on the left and tied it in a knot. I then added a heart from my Heart to Heart punch using the Red Glimmer paper. Yummy! For a little extra bling, I added the pearl that I colored with a black sharpie. I mounted the whole strip using dimensionals. That's it. It was pretty simple once I figured out what in the world I was going to do. Hopefully I will find my mojo in the morning and have another card for you. Smiles!

Hand Crafted

I tried something a little different with this set yesterday and at first I wasn't so sure I liked it but it has grown on me and I like it more and more as I look at it. And the true test, the hubby has a very critical eye for art and design and he liked it right away. I hope you do too. I began with a Tempting Turquoise base that I ran through the Big Shot using my Perfect Polka Dots Impression Folder. I then took a strip of Daffodil Delight card stock, cut it into a rectangle and added a scallop border to the bottom. I then layered a piece of DSP from the Sweet Stitches collection in the mini to the top edge. Why the whole piece of Daffodil Delight behind it? I'm glad you asked. It is to give some weight to the DSP so I could mount it using dimensionals and it not be flimsy. For some text, I added the Melon Mambo Pompom trip. If pompom trim doesn't make you happy, I'm feel sorry for you. For my focal point, I stamped the sewing machine on watercolor paper using Stazon Black ink. I then colored the machine using a blender pen with the ink pads. For the tag, I stamped the greeting from Tiny Tags in Black and punched it out with the Jewelry Tag punch and tied it around the sewing machine that I had previously punched out with the XL Decorative Label punch, using linen thread. I then mounted this piece with doubled layer of dimensionals on the top 3/4 of the back side to accommodate for the thickness of the pompom trim. I hope this card makes you smile today.

Happy Monday Morning Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are excited to start the week off with a bang. :-) Too perky for a Monday morning? OK on to the card. I began with a Not Quite Navy base and added a strip of Botanical Gazette DSP. I ran the whole thing through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Impression Folder. I think it looks neat how it integrates the DSP on the card stock and makes it look like it's all one piece. For my focal point, I took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped my bird cage in Early Espresso. I then inked up the bird in Crumb Cake and stamped him off once before adding him. And finally I inked up the eggs in Not Quite Navy and stamped them off about 2 or 3 times so they would be very faint. I didn't want anything to compete with the cage. I then adhered a piece of DSP to the bottom edge (also from Botanical Gazette collection). I then mounted that piece on some Early Espresso card stock. For some texture I added a piece of Very Vanilla seam binding that I gathered up. For some bling, I added the Vintage Brad with some linen thread holding 3 little Jewelry Tags. Each one has something different on it. I then mounted the focal point on the card base using dimensionals. There you go. Happy Stamping and I'll see you tomorrow.

Happy Friday Friends! I hope it is a great one for you. I have another Nature Walk card for you this week. I'm just loving this set if you hadn't noticed. I've had this card in my head for awhile and had to get it worked out. I began with an Early Espresso card base that I ran through my Big Shot using the Framed Tulip Impression folder. I then added a layer of Botanical Gazette DSP mounted on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, just inside the border using dimensionals. For my focal point, I stamped my flowers in Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler on a piece of Very Vanilla stock. I then ran it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice folder and mounted it on a piece of Old Olive card stock. The whole focal point is mounted using dimensionals. For my greeting, I cut a strip of Very Vanilla stock and stamped my greeting from Kind Thanks in Early Espresso. I then rounded the corners using my Jewelry Tag Punch by inserting the ends in to the bottom edge of the tag and punching, then repeated for the other end. It just keeps it from looking so sharp on the edges. I mounted it using SNAIL and a double layer of dimensionals on the right hand end. For some texture I added the Very Vanilla seam binding with a glue dot. It's not a difficult card but it sure does look like it, don't you think. Get Well Wishes

I used the Nature Walk stamp set again for this card. It seems to be a Nature Walk kind of week. For the base, none other than Early Espresso with some Botanical Gazette DSP layered on the top. It's kind of hard to tell in the photo, but I added some So Saffron bees to the DSP for a little more unity and depth. Otherwise the DSP is as is, meaning that I did not add any additional sponging or or anything to it. i then added a strip of So Saffron across the bottom of the DSP. Then I began working on the focal point. I stamped my Bee in Basic Brown on a piece of Very Vanilla stock and added a little So Saffron with a blender pen. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, my all time favorite greeting set, at least for now :-). I layered this on a piece of So Saffron that is 1/8" bigger and then another piece of Early Espresso that is 1/4" bigger. To the top left corner I added some brads that look like buttons, aren't they cute. They are from the Vintage Trinkets collection. And finally for some texture I added a piece of Early Espresso striped grosgrain ribbon. The whole focal point is mounted with dimensionals of course. I don't think I can make a card without them.
