Wood Sheets

OK.  We finished the window sheets yesterday.  I hope you like a series because I have two more to share with you. This series will be on using the new wood sheets in the catalog.  I thought they were going to be more challenging to use, but they really aren't bad at all.  I was able to use my regular paper trimmer to cut them.  They have a nice heavy backing paper backing on them that makes them super easy to work with.  We are going to start out easy today.  I know what you are thinking, my cards are always easy, but this one is quick and cute as well as easy.  My card base is Kraft, no texturizing on this one, I can hardly believe it myself.  The next layer is Baja Breeze card stock with a layer of Baja Breeze DS paper.  This is adhered to the card using dimensionals. Next is a wooden star that I punched from the wood sheets.  I added a pumpkin button that has a little linen thread tied to it with a glue dot.  I added the star with dimensionals as well.  The greeting is in Chocolate Chip and is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  Is it too simple?  I don't think so.  See you tomorrow.

Window Sheet Series Finale

I have plenty more ideas for some window sheet cards, but I think I will leave you with this one today so we can move on to some wood sheet tomorrow.  

I'm sorry about the glare on the card, I tried to adjust to miss it but I couldn't get rid of all of it. This card is made with the Seasonal Pieces window sheets.  This is a very basic looking card, but what is missing is a family photo under the window sheet. This card is designed to be used as a Christmas photo holder.  My card base is whisper white, the next layer is Brilliant Blue and the next layer is the window sheet.  I adhered the window sheet at the top with glue dots.  You can't see them because they are behind the ribbon.  I did use another Chit Chat Rub-on, in white this time, in the bottom left hand corner.  I tied the red grosgrain ribbon around and added a tag that I created using the Season of Joy stamp set.  I colored the image with Real Red and Brilliant Blue markers.  I then added a clear rhinestone brad to the center and there you have it.  I'm sorry about the weird word spacing.  Typepad has been acting weird today and I couldn't get it to line up any better.

Window Sheet Series #8

How about a little 2, 4, 6, 8 Box today with a window?  I created my box and ran it through my Big Shot to give it some polka dot texture to play off the ribbon.  I then punched out some circles of Melon Mambo DS paper and adhered it to a rectangle of Whisper White.  I then ran that through the Big Shot to cut out my butterfly.  Are you seeing the polka dot theme here?  Oh top of my butterfly, I used a Chit Chat Rub-on that I put on a window sheet and cut out with the word window punch and adhered with glue dots.  I put a silver eyelet in one corned and added some silver cord.  For the window of the box, I punched a hole out from the bottom of the box using the square scallop punch.  (Note:  you will have to fold two of the tabs up in order to fit the punch in far enough on the box.  This will cut those tabs, but you can cover them with the other tabs later when you close it.)  After I punched the window, I cut a piece of window sheet out and adhered it to the inside of the box.  I then assembled my box, added some chocolates and tied the Melon Mambo ribbon through two holes I made at the top with my crop-a-dile.  I added my butterfly tag and there you have it.  Check back tomorrow for one last window sheet card.

Window Sheet Series #7

Today's Window Sheet Card is brought to you by the number 7.  he he  (Any Sesame Street people out there?) I don't know where that came from.  For this card, I used my Big Shot, no surprise there to dry emboss the card base and I also used it to die cut two butterflies.  One of them I from the Cottage Wall DS paper and one is from the medium weight window sheet material.  On the window sheet I stamped white dots with Stazon using the Itty Bitty Backgrounds like I did on this card.  I also used the Cottage Wall on the side of the card and put some Elegant Eggplant Ric Rac on top of that.  For my greeting, I used Really Retro in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White and punched it out with the Modern Label punch.  I adhered the butterflies with glue dots.  Then I added the greeting with glue dots.  Then I took an Old Olive button and put some white taffeta ribbon through it and adhered it with a glue dot as well.  And there you have it.  Edited: I lied, not intentionally.  I did not stamp it with white stazon.  I remembered later that I actually stamped it with VersaMark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I was a little skeptical but it worked great.  Just go nice and easy and don't stay in one place for too long.  

Window Sheet Series #6

This is another card using the Seasonal Pieces Window Sheets.  On the sheet is a set of 4 square together.  I simply cut that into two rectangular pieces and adhered one of them here with glue dots on a piece of Dusty Durango.  I also punched the edge of.  The next layer down is a piece of Kraft card stock that I can through my big shot, again with the texturz plate, rounded the corners on one side, tied some chocolate chip taffeta ribbon around it and adhered it with some dimensionals.  The card base is Chocolate Chip.  The Dusty Durango is layered on the Kraft layer with dimensionals.  I used some Chit Chat Rub-ons on a piece of Bermuda Bay and punched it out with the Modern Label punch, added some gold brads to the ends and then layered that on the Dusty Durango piece.  I really like how this turned out.  

Window Sheet Series #5

Happy Sunday!  I hope you are having a great and relaxing weekend.  When I was putting together these samples, I knew I had to do a shaker card.  So, here is my version.  I used the Tall Tales DS paper with the Animal Stories stamp set.  The card base is So Saffron that I can through my Big Shot with a texturz plate.  (Am I the only one that can't stop texturizing their cards?)  The next layer is Old Olive and then some of the Tall Tales DS.  The ribbon is Old Olive.  The little greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes "hello baby".  I just used the "baby" portion.  The giraffe is in Old Olive. The shakers in the shaker card is micro beads.  See you tomorrow!

Window Sheet Series #4

For today's window sheet card, I thought I would share a whole card made out of a window sheet.  I have seen some beautiful cards that are made out of window sheets but until now, I had not tried it.  But, I have to say that I love how it turned out.  This card is a 41/4" square card.  I did score it with my paper cutter and let me tell you that I was surprised how much pressure I had to put on the scoring blade over and over to get a nice smooth crease that I was able to bend.  This is the medium weight Window Sheets and it is nice and sturdy.  I created a focal point using the Big Shot and the Blossom Party Die with some Razzleberry Lemonade DS paper.  There is also some Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo Card Stock on here.  I used glue dots to hold the focal point to the front of the card (on the back of the Crushed Curry piece).  I also cut a piece of Crushed Curry just an 1/8th of an inch smaller to put on the inside just inside of the front focal point so you do not see it when it is closed.  It is also adhered with some glue dots.  The whole thing is finished off with some Crushed Curry Polka Dot ribbon.  I am loving this polka dot ribbon. 

Window Sheet Series #3

It's Friday!  Yeah!  You know one of the great benefits of being a Stampin' Up! demo is great ideas and layouts that are offered to demonstrators through various Stampin' Up! publications.  This layout is one of those. The first thing I did was stamp the white polka dots on the medium weight window sheet with white stazon ink.  I then set that aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.  I stamped the little butterflies on the Melon Mambo card base on the left hand side only. I then stamp the polka dot butterfly on white white stock with Melon Mambo ink. The outline border of the butterfly is basic black ink.  I then cut out the butterfly with my paper snips.  I adhered that with glue dots to a circle punched out of the Bermuda Bay card stock with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I then adhered the piece of window sheet to the card base and then the Bermuda Bay circle with some dimensionals. Super simple, just the way I like them.

Window Sheet Series #2

As promised, I am sharing a card that I made using the Seasonal Pieces Window Sheets.  As always, this is a super simple card, but I did not think it needed much because the image itself was so dominate.  I used Chocolate Chip for the base of the card, then I added a layer of Bashful Blue textured cardkstock.  Next is the window sheet.  If you look closely you will see that I adhered it with glue dots in each corner.  Adhering window sheets can be a little tricky.  Usually, I try to hide them behind the printed image, but in this case, I felt like I needed more adhesive than just behind the try, so I played up the glue dots.  I gently put one in each corner and tried it keep it nice and neat so it looks more obvious.  I used another Chit Chat Rub-on, but this time, I put it on a piece of wood sheet that I ran through the big shot using one of the Lots of Tags dies.  I added some Chocolate Chip brads to each end and raised the whole thing with dimensionals.  That's it.  Pretty simple, but I really like how it turned out.  One thing I wanted to note as I begin to show you the images off of the Seasonal Pieces Window Sheets is that the images come on a 12 x 12 sheet and the images are various sizes.  That's why this card ended up being a square card.

Window Sheet Series

Recently I did a demo on "Window Sheets."  I really had a lot of fun with them and I thought I would share them with you for the next few days.  The possibilities are endless but this is some of the fun ways I decided to use them. This card makes a window.  I layered the Cottage Wall DS and the whisper white together  I then put just the tiniest bit of adhesive on the back to hold it to the front of the card base (Rich Razzleberry).  You could also use temporary adhesive as well. I then punched a window with the 13/8" circle punch to make the window. I then removed the whisper white/DS layer. I cut a square of medium weight window sheet that is about 2" square.    I can tape that to the rich razzleberry layer and then put the whisper white/DS layer back on the front of the card with some white Organza Ribbon. This prevents you from seeing the edges of the window sheet. I then stamped my butterfly (Flight of the Butterfly) on a piece of whisper white card stock.  I used Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.   I then adhered that to the inside so it would line up with the window.  To give it just a little bit of extra umph, I add the little white dots on the top layer of the window sheet so that they line up with the center of the flowers on the butterfly.  I feel that gives it just a little more dimension. The greeting is from the Chit Chat Rub-ons.  Too fun!  I'll b back tomorrow with a sample from the New Seasonal Pieces Window Sheets.
